CFR and FACS Cooperative Extension faculty awarded a grant to disseminate the Strong African American Families program...
The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism is supporting a large-scale effort to deliver the Strong African American Families program to 576 families throughout south Georgia. Cooperative Extension agents working in Sumter, Crisp, Turner, Tift, Mitchell, Colquitt, Coffee, and Ware counties will hire staff who will implement all aspects of the SAAF project. The purpose of the grant is to deerimine if the partnership with Cooperative Extension offers a viable way to give rural African American famiiles access to this family-based program that is showing long-term positive effects.
Drs. Gene Brody, Steve Kogan, Don Bower, Ted Futris, and Sue Chapman are the primary investigators on the project. Dr. Tracy Anderson is the Project Director.
